A Visit to Hadrian's Villa

Hi chums!

Last week I went to Italy which was so much fun and I absolutely loved every moment of it! I went to Rome and Sorrento (more posts to follow) to visit all the classical sites and of course all the touristy monuments! One of my favourite places was Hadrian's Villa which is roughly an hour outside Rome. I wasn't sure what to expect from the site but it was a mixture of beautifully kept gardens and amazing ruins with so much history behind them.

The site was so huge so we spent a while going around checking everything out from the theatre to the baths to the library.

It was such a sunny and warm day with blue skies and it made for great pictures! It felt like one of those summer days and was really relaxing.

The site entrance is at the bottom of a hill but once you walk up it and go through an arch you find yourself in an insanely beautiful garden with a huge lake that is Versailles-worthy! (And just to top it off there were some cute terapins swimming around aww!)

The only thing that seriously put me off were the creepy lizards running around everywhere!

If you are thinking of going to Italy or already have a trip planned I would definitely recommend you spend some time at this site because it definitely doesn't disappoint! I would recommend spending a minimum of 2 hours here if you want to see everything but obviously it depends how long you want to spend looking at each ruin.

I will be posting more of my Italy trip in the next few days so watch this space!

Love

Emma
